If this is what you think of when you think of Southern California, then all I can say is it DOES exist- for a fee. Took this at Disney's California Adventure.
I thought I would not like Disney's California Adventure. I thought it would be a crass sanitization of The Golden State. And it is. But it is, in its' corporate way, a celebration. If it inspires some of these tourists to head up to Monterey and Big Sur and San Francisco, then so be it.
There should be a little Haight Street, though. If they can pump in the smell of animal crackers on that bug ride (see here), then they can pump in the odor of two camped out Deadheads sleeping on your doorstep.
